DAR/Careless/Open Bottles/Speed Saturday 0356 hours Ofϐicer Steve Meyer was enroute code 3 to assist WSPPD on a call when a car in front of him on Hwy 13 sped up and tried to evade him rather than pull over to allow the squad to pass. The car was stopped just into the city of West St Paul as soon as contact was made with the driver it was obvious why the driver thought running was a good idea. He had been drinking as had the rest of the under age occupants of the car. The driver was revoked. In all, Ofϐicer Meyer issued 7 citations, oops might have been a better idea to pull over and let him get to the call he was headed to in the ϐirst place. DW-I Thank You Sunday 0020 hours Ofϐicer Michael Shepard was on patrol on NB Delaware Ave when he spotted a vehicle with its brights on; he ϐlashed the driver but got no response. The vehicle pulled over and stopped in the middle of the road. As Ofϐicer Shepard approached the vehicle he spotted a beer bottle between two child car seats and a strong odor of alcohol. The driver was asked how much he had consumed and he stated, “not many.” Later he was asked again how much he had to drink and he stated he’d had just one beer; he was then asked if it was the one in the backseat; he said “yes” however, that beer was full and sealed. He was then asked to step out of the vehicle to perform ϐield sobriety tests. He exited the vehicle saying “thank you.” Needless to say, all tests failed and he was transported to Dakota County Jail and booked for DWI.
