2000-12-04 Truth in Taxation HearingPage No. 1 December 4, 2000 CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS DAKOTA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA Minutes of the Regular Meeting Held Tuesday, December 4, 2000 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the regular meeting of the City Council, City of Mendota Heights, Minnesota was held at 7:30 o'clock p.m. at City Hall, 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, Minnesota. Mayor Mertensotto called the meeting to order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. The following members were present: Mayor Mertensotto, Councilmembers Dwyer, Huber and Krebsbach. Councilmember Schneeman had notified Council that she would be absent. HEARING - TRUTH IN Mayor Mertensotto opened the meeting for the purpose of a TAXATION public hearing on the proposed 2001 City Budget and the 2000 levy collectible in 2001. Treasurer Shaughnessy informed the audience that Council approved a preliminary levy and proposed budget in September that called for a 5.8% budget increase and 4.9% levy increase over 1999. Since that time, Council has removed $55,270 of expenditures from the General 1 Fund budget, bringing the total budget to 4.1 % over 2000 and a total levy increase of 3.4 %. The proposed levy will result in no increase in the city portion of residents' property taxes unless their property valuations increase more than 5 %. He reviewed the proposed revenues and expenditures for 2001 and responded to Council questions. Mayor Mertensotto asked for questions and comments from the audience. ADJOURN There being no questions or comments, Councilmember Huber moved that the hearing be adjourned to the December 19 subsequent hearing. Councilmember Dwyer seconded the motion.
