SUBJECT: 2024 City Events
Background
As part of the Commission’s 2024 Work Plan, one of the initiatives of Goal 2, Education and
Outreach, is to attend specific events that the City hosts throughout the year. The Commission
may attend or use these events to connect with residents and provide natural resources
education.
The following are remaining City events in 2024:
•Music in the Park – Wednesdays, bi-weekly, in Market Square at 6p, May-August
•Touch-a-Truck – May 11 from 10a-Noon at Mendakota Park
•Tree Sale Pick-up – June 1 from 9a-Noon at the Public Works Facility
•Cliff Timm Memorial Fishing Derby – July 18, 4-7p at Rogers Lake Park
•Parks Celebration – August 9-11, at Mendakota Park
•Trick-or-Teeing – October 19, at the Par 3 Golf Course
Requested Action
The Commission is asked to discuss what city events they would like to attend in 2024.

SUBJECT: 2024 Natural Resources Commission Site Tour
Background
As part of the Natural Resources Commission 2024 Workplan, the Commission identified the
desire to host a Natural Resources Site Tour of past and current City natural resources projects.
The site tour is tentatively scheduled for Quarter 3 or 4 within the Workplan.
Requested Action
The Commissions should discuss possible dates for the tour, and projects they would like to
include in the tour.

SUBJECT: 2025 Preliminary Budget Requests
Background
Staff will review the existing 2024 Natural Resources budget with the Commission, as well as
goals and priorities set forth in the Natural Resources Management Plan, and the Commission’s
2024 work plan. The commission may then discuss recommendations to bring to the City Council
for the 2025 calendar year. Recommendations may consist of funding for goals, priorities, tasks,
programs, or projects that the Commission would like the City Council to incorporate into the
City Budget for 2025. Resources, timeline, and benefits of each identified item should be
considered. Recommendations brought forth should reflect the City’s goals, needs, priorities, and
funding mechanisms.
Requested Action
The Commission is asked to use the work session to form recommendations to be brought to City
Council for consideration for the 2025 City budget.

SUBJECT: Ordinance Discussion
Background
As part of the Commission’s 2024 Work Plan, one of the initiatives of Goal 1, Ordinance and Policy
Development, is to identify an ordinance for review, and draft the ordinance for recommendation. The
commission should use the work session to initiate discussion around possible next ordinances
to review and/or develop for recommendation to City Council. Feedback and discussion should
consider timelines, staff resources, residents and applicants, as well as enforceability when
developing ordinances for recommendation.
Requested Action
The Commission is asked to use the work session to discuss and review possible ordinances.
