If you have created a hockey rink on one of the many ponds in Mendota Heights, this means it is time to start taking nets, lights, chairs, benches, and other rink items off of ponds. With the warmer temperatures, ice may become too unsafe to walk on, and items left behind will sink to the bottom of our ponds. These items can cause water pollution, as well as create a flooding and safety hazard, as they can interfere with the City’s storm sewer and drainage system. Please remove any items that you have placed on ponds, as well as any trash or debris, within the next week. The deadline for fish shelter removal in Minnesota is March 1, 2021. This is a good guideline to follow for items placed on ponds as well. Recent highlights The City is currently updating its Natural Resources Management Plan with a Phase 1 Draft available to review. The plan will serve as a tool to help guide the City in making decisions and taking actions to conserve and manage its natural resources.
