1984-08-07 Parks and Rec Comm MinutesCITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES, AUGUST 7, 1984 The regular meeting of the Mendota Heights Park and Recreation Commission was called to order by Chairperson Stein at 7:30 P.M. The following members were present: Stein, Doffing, Knittig and McMonigal. Members absent were: Schneeman, Singer, and Williams. Also present was Terry Blum. APPROVAL OF Minutes of the May 8, 1984 meeting were approved as submitted. MINUTES VACANT LOT IN The commission reiterated its former position on the Curley Addition CURLEY'S ADDITION property. That is, that the lot should be sold by the City as a home site, with some of the proceeds used to build a trail along the northwest side of the lot, and the remainder used for park and trail construction. WACHTLER PROPERTY PARK BUDGET RECREATION PROGRAM MISCELLANEOUS ADJOURN Stein reported that Mayor Lockwood would be meeting with a representative of the Wachtler estate to discuss the future status of the proposed park land. The Commission approved the 1985 budget. The summer recreation program was reviewed with the following comments and suggestions: - Art in the Park was enjoyed in the neighborhoods where it was offered. - Could there be a winter volleyball program for adults. It was suggested that T-ball coaches be trained to educate the kids better to the game. More tumbling and gymnastics for pre-school age children? - More slow -pitch teams? Knittig will attend the next meeting of the City Council on August 22nd. The next meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission will be September 18, at 7:30 P.M. in the Engineering Conference Room.
