1982-10-12 Parks and Rec Comm MinutesCITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES October 12, 1982 The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. The following members were present: McMonigal, Stein, Bayless, Doffing and Selander. Excused were Williams, Gustafson and Schneeman. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Recreation Report: given by Dewey Selander. He noted that a sign should be made noting that the beach at Roger's Lake has been closed. A motion was made by Stein, seconded by Doffing that the City staff do appropriate signings and take whatever appropriate action is necessary to close the beach at Rogers Lake. It was also recommended that the telephone be taken out also. A motion was made by McMonigal, seconded by Stein, to check on all the lights and light standards for the various skating rinks. Community Education: Gymnastics classes for grades 1-3 and pre-school and creative dance will be offered. Ice Skating: Stein moved, seconded by McMonigal that the ice rinks be maintained and flooded at night using City personnel in the same manner as last year. Parks Ordinance Review: Mary Ann will send Sim Stein the current Ordinances related to the parks. Beaver Damage: Dorothy McMonigal will call the Dodge Nature Center regarding the nature of beavers and the feasibility of live trapping and moving them. NSP Brushing: The Trails Committee will explore utilizing the NSP power line access as a trail under the lines, or to alternately suggest that NSP do brushing that is less disturbing to the park. Clean -Up Day: A discussion of clean-up day ensued which will be carried over to the next meeting, which will be Tuesday, November 9th. Jim Stein will chair. Meeting adjourned at 8:45 P.M.
