1982-05-11 Parks and Rec Comm MinutesMay 11, 1962 Minutes of the Mendota Heights Park Board Meeting City of Mendota Heights Park & Recreation Commission The regular meeting of the Mendota Heights Park & Recreation Commission was called to order by Chairman Bayless at 7:30 P.M. The following members were present: Bayless, Schneeman, Liturski, Gustafson, McMonigal, Williams; excused: Selander, Stein. The Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as submitted. Wood Duck Houses: Dorothy McMonigal said that Wood Duck Houses are available through Mr. Harris of the Minnesota DNR. Dorothy will call them in January to place our order at $4.00 to 5.00 each. Rudy said that the city has some metal fence posts to mount them on. Tractor: Rudy says that the rental for dragging equipment to drag the ball park infields was rented for $50.00 Park Report: Gustafson; Ivy Falls Ball Park benches are leaning and need painting. The Trail is washing out. Doffing: Valley Park - 1 picnic table is in bad shape and the Pavillion needs painting. Schneeman: Wentworth Park - New sand is needed under the playground equipment and the bridge needs work. Bayless: Friendly Hills - The playground needs sand. Recreation Report: Dewey Selander reported to Tom Bayless that the parks and recreation registration is going fine. Clean Up Day: Next year the city council would like us to investigate a city- wide clean up with tree plantings. Lawcon Grant: The Metro Council has advised that Federal Funds cannot be used for purchasing of public property. A discussion followed regarding the transferring the application to the Wachtler property. A motion was made by Gary Gustafson that we transfer the application to the purchase of the Wachtler property. This was seconded by Dorothy McMonigal and unanimously approved. A motion was made by Tom Bayless and seconded by Doffing to write a letter of welcome to the new police chief. City Clean Ups: Mary Jean Schneeman will call the Village Manager in Hopkins to find out the cost of the clean up. Adjourned at 9:00 P.M.
