PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
April 13, 1982
The regular meeting of the Mendota Heights Park and Recreation
Commission was called to order by Chairman Bayless at 7:30 P.M. The following
members were present: Bayless, Schneeman, Literski, Gustafson, McMonigal,
Doffing and Stein. Williams was absent and Selander was excused.
APPROVAL OF Minutes of the March 9th meeting were handed outat the meeting.
MINUTES They were approved.
TENNIS COURT Rudy Literski reported that the preliminary cost figures mentioned
RESURFACING in our March 9th meeting were substantially lower than the costs
he was finding now.
TENNIS COURT The new nets should be in within the next week.
NETS
SNOW FENCE The
snow
fence in
the outfield at the Civic Center ballfield
has
been
installed.
PARK CLEAN-UP The park clean-up day will be on Saturday, May lst, with the
DAYS board members assigned to individual parks as follows:
A. Valley Park - Doffing
B. Marie Park - Stein
C. Wentworth Park - Schneeman
D. Friendly Hills Park - Bayless
E. Ivy Falls - Gustafson
F. Rogers Lake - Williams
The clean-up will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with the City providing
plastic trash .bags and pop for the participants. Jim Stein will contact the
local papers with a press release. Each member should also review the needs
of the parks at the time of the clean-up.
TRAILS PLAN Bob Doffing was elected to chair a committee to revise the City's
REVISION: Trail Plan. Other .park board members who will serve on that
committee are Jim Stein, Mary Jeanne Schneeman and Dorothy
McMonigal. Other people from the community will be asked to
serve also. The committee's goal is to complete the revision
of the Trail Plan by October 1, 1982.
LAWCON GRANT A review of the proposed school property park occurred with the
layout and nature of the parka A motion was made by Gustafson,
seconded by Doffing, to apply for the grant proposal to purchas
25+ acres of the School District #197 Dronertv.
COUNCIL. MEETINGS The park board representatives at the next two City Council
meetings will be Dorothy McMonigal for April 20th and Bob
Doffing for May 4th.

BASKETBALL A motion was made by Gustafson, secondedby Stein to request -a
COURT one-half basketball court at Ivy Falls Park with the cost not
to exceed $3,500.
If possible, a tennis playback board should also be installed.
Passed unanimously.
ST. PETER'S The Mend -Eagan Athletic Association has asked that if they
CHURCH & MEND- provide cash, would the City of Mendota, Heights provide the
EAGAN ASSOCIA- labor to build a:ballfield at St. Peter's Church.
TION
A motion was made and seconded that Mendota Heights.provide the
labor and equipment to bring the St. Peter's ballfield up to
standard, providing that Mendota Heights.Park and Recreation
controls theschedulingand that no
tenance is required by Mendota Heights.
