PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
December 22, 1981
1. The regular meeting of the Mendota Heights Park and Recreation Commission
was called to order by Chairman Bayless at 7:45 P.M. The following members
were present: Bayless, McMonigal, Doffing, Schneeman. Stein was excused
and Williams was absent. Visitor was Dewey Selander.
2. The minutes of the October 27th meeting were approved.
3. Bayless and Brian Birch. An agreement was drafted to allow Mendota Heights
use of Mr. Birch's property on Hwy. 110 and Dodd Road. Bayless will meet with
Birch about the agreement. Hopefully then bids will be let for a plan.
4. Selander explained the team practices at the hockey rinks.
5. Report on Amesbury East. A park donation of $750 per unit and no land was
agreed upon. Also, the Council has given passive approval to attempt to acquire
District #197 school property from the School Board or try to get an option to buy.
6. Park Acquisition - Discussion of park acquisition as it applies to capital
expenditures.
7. Bike Trails - Bayless will draft a letter to the County planners complimenting
them on their work. A motion was made by McMonigal "That the County bike trails within
the City be maintained in conjunction with and to the same level as the ordinary
street maintenance at the direction of the City Public Works Department." Seconded
by Gustafson. Motion carried.
8. Trails Plan - will be reviewed for the January meeting.
9. Meeting Date- A motion was made by Gustafson to change the meeting date of the
Commission to the second Tuesday. Doffing seconded the motion. Motion carried.
10. Recommendation - It was recommended by the Commission that the police check
the warming house attendants and patrol the parks at least once a skating period,
