1. Minutes of the August 25, 1976 meeting approved.
2. Recreation -- Complaints have been received regarding the free skating rinks.
They need to receive better care - brushed before flooded. Dewey and Rudy
will discuss any maintenance problems.
3. Trails --
the Curley
trail is due to
be started
any day but it will not have
a gravel
covering. When the highway
department
is through in the area they
will put
in an eight
foot bituminous
pedway.
4. The Planning Commission, concerned with safety, discussed the possibility of
a bridge at Highways 110 and 49. We requested that the Planning Commission
keep us informed when they discuss trails or any other subject which we
are vitally interested in. We join the Planning Commission in recommending
to the Council that Dahlgren send in an application to Federal Aid Urban
(FAU) for funds for such a project. The Park Commission wishes to be
included in preparation of the application and in any further planning along
these lines.
5. The tennis nets will be taken down November 1 or 2.
6. The budget was approved as submitted to the Council.

3.

8.

8. Cross-country ski -- Lionel Greenberg, Northern Dakota County Ski Club,
reported the trails on the Rauenhorst property, Friendly Hills and Valley
Park are ready. He has placed signs along the trails. The City received
approximately $1,600 in response to an application for federal funds.
Greenburg asked if the City wants to apply for another grant-in-aid. He
reported that we have three or four bridges in Valley Park which aren't
up to standard and the trail there needs leveling. Harvey will give an
estimate on leveling costs and Rudy thought we might be able to start the
process yet this fall. We will start the application in motion hoping to
submit it to a Council meeting before the next park board meeting. If
that isn't possible, Kevin, Mary and Liz will review the application
before it is submitted.
