1. Minutes of March 24, 1976 approved.
2. Capital investments
Franzmeier passed around brochure showing grill for possible purchase. He
suggested purchasing a dozen or so grills at $50 apiece. Selander
indicated he could use one more table at each of the four warming houses.
Finn moved, Shipman seconded, that we purchase grills and four tables.
There have been requests for playground equipment at Marie and Ivy Falls
parks and basketball equipment at Ivy Falls. Purchase of such equipment
was deferred until a survey of Mendota Heights residents is made to
determine area needs.
3. Tennis courts
Finn. moved, Murphy seconded, that the time on the tennis courts be set to
change on the hour beginning at 5 p.m. on weekdays and be in effect all day
on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
4. Friendly Hills Trail
Representatives from the Friendly Hi11s Civic Association presented their
trail plan, along with Franzmeiers cost estimate. FHCA hopes to raise $560
plus the cost of moving the culvert and to provide whatever labor they can.
Shipman moved, Finn seconded that we recommend approving the Friendly Hills
request and recommend that they submit it to the City Council.
5. Summer recreation.
Dewey
reported
that registration is in full swing.
Selander indicated a
great
need for
more ball
fields. Already over 100
men are playing softball
and more are interested.
More girls and women are
playing softball also. A
women's
tennis
league has
been started.
6. Survey of park useage and establishment of priorities for future facilities.
-- Copies of other community' surveys will be distributed at the next meeting.
Mills and Witt will put together a sample survey for the July meeting.
7. Right of way encroachment
A Sylvandale Avenue resident has sodded and planted trees on road right-of-way.
Johnson was asked to consult the City Attorney and write to the property owner
to advise him that the an must remain available for the City.

8. Park useage
Finn moved, Witt seconded that Park -A -Rama and the Tennis Association
be allowed to use Friendly Hills Park for Park -A -Rama related activities.
However, formal permission must be obtained from the Council.
9. Archery
John Larson presented Franzmeier's
cost estimate
for the
archery range.
Finn moved, Lundeen seconded, that
we approve the
plan as
submitted and
recommend Larson present it to the
Council.
10. Algae treatment for Rogers Lake
Franzmeier
applied
to DNR for algae treatment funds.
He has not yet
received a
reply.
