Approval of minutes, Chairman's report. -- July 24, 1974 Minutes unanimously approved. -- Howe reported that he and Johnson and Finn met with school board officials to look into the use of land adjacent to Sibley. -- Howe reported that the new Mendota Heights Jaycee unit has tentatively decided to build benches for all the baseball fields, according to an approved design, and with the City supplying only the materials and permission. Moved by Murphy, seconded by Shipman. Passed. 2. Park Development Status (Starr) -- Since Starr and Franzmeier were absent, discussion postponed to next meeting. 3. Bond Fund Status -- Reviewed committed funds. -- Johnson reviewed the reasons for the purchase of the Dehrer property (7 acres), offered to the City at County appraised value. Howe indicated that a majority of the board was in favor of the purchase. -- After discussion, Fogelson moved that the Park Board request the Council to approve condemnation of the McCloud-Allstrom property. Seconded by Lundeen. Passed. 4. Halloween Party (Wahl) -- Russ Wahl discussed his idea for a Halloween bonfire including cooperation of fire department, donated hot dog buns, etc., and at Friendly Hills park site. -- After much discussion, especially regarding location, Fogelson moved that the Park and Recreation Commission support the concept of a Halloween Party, subject to police and fire department scrutiny, and recommending the shopping center back yard for the bonfire. Seconded by Murphy. Passed. Park Minutes -2- August 28, 1974 5. Summer/Winter Recreation (Selander) -- Action to be taken by Johnson/Selander on hiring of rink attendants. -- Selander requested that he be invited to Mend -Eagan meeting to explain rink rules, schedules, etc. Action, Howe. 6. 1975 Budget (Johnson) -- Johnson presented board with summary of requests and appraisal of possible funds available. Cuts will be necessary to achieve a responsible budget request. -- Board reviewed priorities and various programs. Action left to Johnson to fit in figures. 7. Ivy Park Tennis Courts -- Howe reported that McGeogh has offered some property adjacent to Ivy Hills Park. -- Suggested that Park Board members look at site and discuss details next meeting. 8. Proposed Park Ordinance -- Reviewed draft ordinance for City parks. Decided to postpone discussion till all members had had an opportunity to read it through.
