Re: decision on access and/or acquisition.
The Commission decided to pursue and continue negotiating
with the Highway Department for an access from Valley View
to Wagon wheel. 0. Johnson will contact Highway Department.
The Commission delayed the decision on whether to acquire property
as requested by Valley View Heights. This postponement on the
decision is caused by the extremely fluid situation related to
land acquisition in general. Prior to the Commission's
regularly scheduled meeting (Nov. 27), Joe Stefani will write
a letter to Valley View (Dr. Henderson) officially communicating
our position at this time.

I. Federal and State Grants
— The Commission has dropped any further efforts toward
federal funding: the Council supports this action.
0. Johnson and Lee Starr have invited Tom Clausen to visit
the park sites which may have LAWCON grant potential --
Clausen has accepted and will meet with them prior to the
end of September. A very brief preliminary application
can be submitted to LAWCON by no later than October 13.
A more formal, elaborate application can be submitted by
the end of 1972 if LAWCON looks on us favorably.
