HUD Application — Absent Lawler Meierotto Murphy Franzmeier Lee Starr gave a report on the rejection of our application. He listed the criteria (dated April, 1972) — point by point — and how Mendota Heights scored against less it. than Under 30% of the the total latest possible criteria, points. we scored In summary, within the last 12 months, HUD's emphasis switched From Open Space to Legacy of Parks t❑ Housing and Minority. Through LAWCON, state funds might 6e available; however, LAWCON is almost solely acquisition for property associated with lake shores. We will make a last ditch effort by contacting Garland Davis. Also, we will continue to study obtaining funds from LAWCON by further discussion with Tom Clawson. In the meantime, a report, written by Starr, will be submitted to the Council, with a cover letter from the Park Commission. This letter will, in brief, state the Park Commission general feelings and future intentions. Rocers Lake Water Qualit Jim Losleben reported he will not receive an official report under September or October. He is expecting an informal report momentarily of the nine samples taken. UII. Park Development — Current as Starr reports that field inspections by his firm anA the Village staff have found this project essentially complete and in conformance with the contract. An approved Certificate for Payment and payment schedule has been submitted to the Council. Final payment will not be made until the work, held up by inclement weather, is completed -- estimated to be mid —September. minutes —3— July 24, 1972 VIII. maintenance Equipment — Landscaper, Carriage, Radios 0. Johnson reports little action should be taken until the truck and tractor are delivered and accepted. IX. Land Options 0. Johnson reports that a recently written report from Parranto has been received but not available for the meeting. Stefani reported that Will Wachtler has requested that the Commission re—evaluate its need for the entire 12 acres just east of Interstate. Some negotiating has been done by a sub —committee of Stefani, Meierotto, Starr and Johnson. Kevin Howe and Joan Meierotto have been appointed a committee to study the priorities of both land acquisition and development within the scope of the bond issue money. X. Warming House damage Over the 4th of July weekend, an estimated $250 in vandalism occurred at North Park. Stefanhas contacted Brogmus of the Sun Newspapers for enough press coverage to impress the local residents that continued vandalism will result in removal of the warming house. XI. Friends Hills Warming House The need will exist and it is unlikely the trailer will be available. 0. Johnson will investigate the possibility of acquisition of a temporary shelter inasmuch as it is now too late to plan and construct a permanent structure. XII.
