CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS
Park and Recreation Commission
Minutes
December 7, 1976
1. Minutes of October 27, 1976 approved.
2. Sale of excess Wentworth Park property -- the Commission recommends to
the Council that the City sell all three lots as soon as the price
for Lot C is settled.
3. Horse Club members use of Marie hockey rink -- Notify Larry Culligan
that Club members should not use the rink once the gates are up in
the fall.
4. Park and Recreation Survey -- It should be emphasized in a summary that
the Pedway System, Pedway system on Dodd Road or other location combined
was the highest ranking item in the survey .... Playground equipment can
be placed in all parks by 1977. Tom Lisec of Community Education
Services will be contacted for assistance in preparing a survey for
publication in the Sun and the Newscaster. We also need to tell the
residents what facilities we already have -- many are not aware of
what's available.... Rudy stated that it is very difficult to do anything
with Rogers Lake as long as drought conditions continue.... The summary
statement should be placed in front of the survey and copies sent to
Council members and all planning commission members. A brief version
of the survey should be available to anyone who requests a copy.
5. Winter Recreation -- Dewey reported that rinks will open December 10.
The Commission recommended that no sticks or pucks be allowed on the
free skating rinks at any time. Signs will be posted to that effect and
attendants must enforce the rule.
Volleyball -- A volleyball enthusiast will have to step forward to take
on responsibility for setting up a volleyball program. Dewey hasn't
heard from anyone thus far.
6. The Council is
invited
to the Park and
Recreation January meeting to
discuss bicycle-pedway
possibilities.
