Westbound I-494 ramps to/from Pilot Knob Road close June 8 Plan ahead for detours on westbound I-494 near Eagan as MnDOT work continues on I-494 between I-35E and Hwy 13 on June 8. Beginning at 7 a.m. Mon, June 8, crews will close the westbound I-494 ramps to and from Pilot Knob Rd. This ramp closure is necessary so crews can complete their work upgrading the pedestrian accessibility near the ramp. Be prepared to follow the signed detour using eastbound I-494 and the northbound loop ramp at I-35E to access westbound I-494. The ramps are expected to reopen within 10 days, weather permitting. The ramp closures are part of a larger project on I-494 to repave the road, update drainage and repair seven bridges on an eight-mile stretch of I-494 between the Minnesota River and Third Ave. in South St. Paul. During the two-year project, crews will use 14 full or partial closures of I-494 in order to compete the work by fall 2020. Residents that live near I-494 between the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers may hear noise as crews work to remove pavement, set barrier and pave the road throughout the project area. POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS Thanks, but... Over the past several (very difficult) days, the Mendota Heights Police Department has been heartened by, and in some cases overwhelmed by all of the different messages of support from members of the Mendota Heights community. While your support is very much appreciated, please remember that state law, and city policy do not allow our being able to accept gift cards and similar items that are of more than nominal value. This is a safeguard to make certain there is not the slightest appearance of favoritism or unequal treatment by members of the Department. If you would like to show your appreciation, we encourage you to make donations to local organizations who also try to make a difference everyday such as Neighbors, Inc., DARTS, or organizations who are collecting resources to help the neighborhoods which have been directly impacted by the recent unrest. Again, thank you for all of the messages of support to the MHPD. It means a lot. We are fortunate to serve the great residents and businesses in Mendota Heights!
