TO PLAN FOR
MN Night to Unite is designed to bring neighbors together and
improve the partnership between residents and their public
safety partner. It’s a night to get to know your neighbors better
while enjoying some yummy treats on a summer evening. When
neighbors are connected, they can partner better with law
enforcement in their crime prevention efforts.
Register your party with us by August 2nd by completing the
attached form or going to the city website to complete the form.
Mendota Heights Police and Fire will then stop out at your party
and visit with everyone. It’s a great way to meet your public
safety teams, share safety concerns and learn crime prevention
tips. Best of all, kids (and adults too) get to check out the squads
and fire trucks!

THE CONNECTION
BETWEEN
MENTAL ILLNESS &
SUBSTANCE ABUSE
Self-Medication
By far the most common issue
connecting mental illness &
substance abuse is the intention
of patients to medicate the
mental health symptoms they
find disruptive or uncomfortable
by using alcohol & drugs to:
Numb the pain from
emotional or physical trauma
Help with social discomfort
Relax internal feelings of
pain, aggression & fear.
Provide energy and
motivation when feeling
lethargic or down.
If this sounds like someone in
your family, whom you suspect
of drug use and possibly
struggling with mental health
issues, seek treatment for & with
them to help them with all
aspects of their issues.
