are a wide range of treatments and supports. Unfortunately, they can be hard to find or
pay for, but know there are resources available, no matter your situation. MENTAL
HEALTH AMERICA and NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) are two great starting
points. Think you’re at risk? Try a mental health screening tool. Taking the time to
learn about types of mental health and where you can get help is important and very
available. Visit this site to get started with resources, screening tools and support options.
WORK WITH A PROVIDER
Whether you see a therapist, a psychiatrist, or a peer, your relationship with that provider
is important. Remember, you’re in charge of the relationship with your provider. Make
sure they know your needs wishes in a time of crisis.
THERE WILL BE BUMPS IN THE ROAD
The mental health system can be tricky. If your insurance company has denied your
treatment plan, if you’re unsatisfied with your treatment, or if you need help with
medication check out Mental Health America’s FAQs.
SEEK MORE THAN MEDICAL TREATMENT
Getting help for your mental health or substance use condition is about more than therapy
and medication. You might also need situational assistance - housing, caregiver support,
parenting support and relationships counseling. There is always hope and help; you are
not alone, mental health conditions are treatable, and you can recover your life. Friends
and loved ones can also find information about how best to support you in your journey to
recovery and wellness.

substance use condition, you can live your life
well. Wellness tools are for everyone and can make a
big impact on how you feel.
