Speed limits on MN roads are set based upon typical roadways under ideal
condiƟons MN Statute 169.14. All other speed limits are set by the DOT
Commissioner based upon an engineering and traffic invesƟgaƟon. The following
factors are considered:
Road type and condiƟon
LocaƟon and type of access points (intersecƟons, entrances, etc.)
Sufficient length of roadway (1/4 mile minimum)
ExisƟng traffic control devices (signs, signals, etc.)
Crash history/traffic volume/sight distances (curve, hill, etc.)
Test drive results/speed study
What are the most current common speed limits?
10 mph in alleys
30 mph on streets in urban districts
55 mph on other roads
65 mph on expressways
65 mph on urban interstate highways
70 mph on rural interstate highways

THEFT FROM MAILBOX — 1X HINGHAM CIRCLE 04/05/19, 1614 HOURS
Officers were dispatched on report of mail lying across several yards on the 10 block of Hingham Circle. Officers
collected the mail and returned it to the owner. No mail is known to be missing at this Ɵme. It appeared that other
mailboxes had been gone through as well.
3RD DEG DWI — 9XX DOUGLAS RD 04/05/19, 0149 HOURS
Officer conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violaƟon on the 900 block of Douglas Road. While speaking with
the driver, the officer could smell a strong odor of consumed alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. The
officer conducted a field sobriety test on the driver who was subsequently arrested. Driver was transported to the
Dakota County Jail where he was booked for 3rd Degree Gross Misdemeanor DWI. The vehicle was legally parked on
the side of the road.
THEFT FROM MV — 21XX SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY 04/05/19, 0915 HOURS
Officer responded to the report of a theŌ from motor vehicle on the 2100 block of Highway 13. The vicƟm reported a
credit card was stolen from his vehicle someƟme during the day. There is no suspect informaƟon at this point.
CIVIL ASSIST — 13XX NORTHLAND DR 04/06/19, 2115 HOURS
Officers responded to the 1300 block of Northland Dr on reports of a disturbance at a hotel. Upon arrival it was
determined that the taxi cab driver was over‐charging riders for their fares. Because no transacƟons had taken place
the driver was paid the correct amount and a stern warning was given.
DETOX — 7XX HIGHWAY 62 04/07/19, 1321 HOURS
Officers responded to an intoxicated person causing a disturbance on the 700 block of Highway 62. Officers
determined that the party was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was ulƟmately transported to Ramsey
County Detox and placed on a Detox Hold.
ILLEGAL DUMPING — 7XX SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY 04/07/19, 0826 HOURS
Discovered an abandoned boat on private property. Spoke to the owner of the property and the boat. It has been
removed. Case Status: Closed/Civil.
4TH DEG DWI — I35E/MENDOTA HEIGHTS RD 04/08/19, 0053 HOURS
While patrolling the area of Interstate 35E and Mendota Heights Rd officers stopped a vehicle for speeding and
crossing over the lane lines. Field sobriety tests were performed and the driver was arrested for DWI. Driver was
transported to the Dakota County Jail.
DAR/NO INSURANCE — LEXINGTON AVE/MARIE AVE 04/09/19, 0002 HOURS
Officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersecƟon of Lexington Avenue and Marie Avenue. The adult male driver
of the vehicle was found to have a revoked driver's license, and the vehicle was uninsured. The vehicle was
impounded and the driver cited.

CRISIS — 13XX SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY 04/09/19, 2128 HOURS
Officer was dispatched to a report of a male on the trail who appeared to be going through withdrawals. Officer
located the male and aƩempted to gather informaƟon from him. The male was in an altered mental state and he
could not answer simple quesƟons such as his name. The male was considered a danger to himself and transported
to Regions Hospital for evaluaƟon.
STOP ARM VIOLATION — MENDAKOTA CT/MENDAKOTA DR 04/10/19, 0820 HOURS
ISD 197 faxed a school bus stop arm violaƟon form to the police department. The incident took place on 04‐09‐2019
at 1538 hours, near the intersecƟon of Mendakota Dr. and Mendakota Ct. Through invesƟgaƟon, the driver will be
mailed a citaƟon for the offense.
TAMPER W/MV — 13XX 2 ST 04/10/19, 0905 HOURS
Officers responded to a phone call request on a damage to property call from the 1300 block of 2nd St in Mendota.
Damage was done to the frame of the door as the suspect tried to pry open the door. Access to the vehicle was not
gained and nothing was stolen. No suspects are known at this Ɵme.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT — 13XX NORTHLAND DR 04/07/19, 1955 HOURS
Officers responded to a reported domesƟc assault in progress on the 1300 block of Northland Drive. When Officers
arrived they could hear a party crying inside and another party screaming. Officers eventually entered the unit and
arrested an adult male for domesƟc assault. The male was transported to the Dakota County Jail.
FRAUD — 11XX VICTORIA CURVE 04/10/19, 1613 HOURS
Officers responded to the police department on a walk in fraud report. Resident lost their card at a shopping center
and it has been fraudulently used since. The total charges have amounted to over $4000. Officers are waiƟng for
more informaƟon from the card company to narrow down locaƟons the card was used.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT — 18XX DELAWARE AVE 04/10/19, 1240 HOURS
Responded to the 1800 block of Delaware Av to invesƟgate a possible theŌ involving two juveniles. Both juveniles
became disorderly during the invesƟgaƟon and one of them assaulted an officer. Both juveniles were subsequently
released to their parent/guardian. Case to be forwarded to County AƩorney for charging consideraƟon.
