The latest from the Mendota Heights Police Department
SEPTEMBER 21, 2018
SPEED! Slow down, respect the vehicles on the
roadway and pedestrians around you. Curb the lead foot
by focusing on why you must arrive at your destination
safely. Getting hurt or killed along the way helps no one.
VISIBILITY! It’s a MN LAW—If your wipers are on, your lights
need to be on! Lights on make you more visible to other cars.
Don’t trust those auto lights to be on in fog or dusk hours
when visibility is low. Best practice is to simply keep them on
at all times while driving—it’s a great habit to get into, and one
your insurance company would appreciate and recommend.
RECKLESS DRIVING! Swerving in and out of traffic,
driving on the shoulder around the cars in front of
you, excessive speeding, driving too fast in parking lots,
passing when you shouldn’t be—great opportunities for
hurting yourself or others.
DRIVING UNDER INFLUENCE OF DRUGS OR
ALCOHOL. It’s really quite simple! Just don’t do it!
Zip, zero, zilch. Need we say more?

What would you do?
Panic seems logical, but
by a little foresight could
save your life and others.
RUN! IF a SAFE path is

Leave your belongings

HIDE! IF you cannot get

silence your phone,
block entrances and lock

possible and stay out of

FIGHT ! IF your life is
in immediate danger,
prepare to fight for it as

work with others if
