It’s Ɵme for school to start, and it’s also the Ɵme for many sport leagues to
start up, ready for fall and winter compeƟƟons. Here are some consideraƟons
for everyone parƟcipaƟng—parents, kids and coaches alike.
PÙ» Ä DÙ®ò C٥罽ù! Throughout the metro, park
and field space is limited, so pracƟce slots overlap and
parking areas can get very busy. Watch for distracted kids
and parents, take your Ɵme on busy and narrow roads and
be respecƞul of other drivers/vehicles.
DÊÄ’ã MÝÝ ó®ã« H IĹçÙ®Ý! Coaches
are now trained to have kids sit out with head
injuries and on appropriate care. As a parent,
taking those kids home and ensuring proper and
prompt care is equally important. Know the signs for whiplash & concussions,
to avoid serious or lifelong behavioral and/or cogniƟve issues.
B V®Ý®½! If you or your child is playing sports or
heading home from pracƟce at dusk/dark, ensure they
are wearing clothes that keep them visible by avoiding
all black clothing, and by wearing reflecƟve material or
bright clothing.
KÖ YÊçÙ CÊʽ—DÊÄ’ã Bç½½ù! Set an
example for the young people around you, and your own
family and friends, by controlling your temper on the
sidelines. Verbally bashing coaches and players is not the
way to moƟvate anyone. Bullying can easily transiƟon
to unlawful acts, such as assault, harassment or
discriminaƟon and you could be charged with a crime.
Hʽ Oã«ÙÝ AÊçÄã½! We all have a responsibility to promote
respecƞul and fun sporƟng events. Calling someone on their negaƟve behavior
is oŌen the most effecƟve way to stop it.
