Candidates need to file an Affidavit of Candidacy with the city clerk at Mendota Heights City Hall, 1101 Victoria Curve. Office hours for City Hall are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday; however, office hours will be extended until 5:00 pm on August 14, 2018, to accept filings. Vikings Training Camp—Evening Practice This Saturday evening, August 4th, the Minnesota Vikings will be having an evening train- ing camp. This will run from 7:00 to 9:30 pm. The Comprehensive Plan provides a general future plan or guide for the community from 2020 to 2040. The 2040 Comprehensive Plan update is now underway. Clubhouse Worker Position Open The City of Mendota Heights Par 3 Golf Course is seeking fun and energetic individuals for the position of Par 3 Clubhouse Worker. The Par 3 Clubhouse Worker is responsible for clubhouse operations including collecting green fees, answering the phone, taking reserva- tions, selling concessions, and renting equipment. The position is also responsible for opening and closing the golf course clubhouse and for performing daily light maintenance of the clubhouse grounds. You must be 16 years of age or older to apply. Have a notification plan, code word, etc. just in case. Whenever possible, have someone accompany you. Conduct exchanges during daylight hours, in a public place. Consider a loca- tion where there are cameras. Some police departments have “Safe Swap Spots” established. Check local departments to find one convenient to your transaction needs. Bring a cell phone and make sure it is charged and turned on. Trust your instincts. Cancel plans for a transaction if you identify any red flags or have additional concerns for your safety. If the transaction feel wrong, it probably is. Report activity immediately by call- ing 911, or flag someone down to call for you. If you wish to have an officer present, respond to your police department and ask if an officer is available to standby during the transaction. Scheduling it is typically not an option and should be requested at the time of the transaction. If you must conduct the business at your residence, take precautions by:  Keeping inner doors and access points locked. ∗ Ensuring adults are in charge of any and all transactions. ∗ Keeping a phone handy for an instant 911 call for help.  Taking a picture of the license plate of the party and whenever possible, document a name and phone number for the person purchasing.  Using cash only for the transactions. Do not exchange any private secu- rity data via a check or credit card. How can you try to en- sure your safety and security while you unload your unwant- ed items for cash? 2 PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT—MENDOTA HEIGHTS RD/PILOT KNOB RD 07/27/18, 1523 HOURS Officer responded to an accident where two vehicles were involved. No injuries were reported. Each party exchanged information. One vehicle had a private tow and the other vehicle drove away. DWI—DELAWARE AVE/STAPLES AVE 07/27/18, 1853 HOURS Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer could smell the odor of alcoholic beverages coming from the driver. Field sobriety tests and a PBT were conducted. The driver was arrested for DWI. DRUGS—9XX SIBLEY MEMORIAL HWY 07/28/18, 0507 HOURS Officer conducted a traffic stop for a broken taillight. Upon speaking with the two juvenile occupants, the officer could smell the odor of marijuana. Officer conducted a vehicle search and located a small amount of marijuana belonging to the occupants. The driver was also driving without a valid drivers license. The driver was issued a citation for no MN DL and Small Amount of Marijuana. The passenger was cited for Small Amount of Marijuana. Both occupants were released to their parents. DRUGS—7XX MENDOTA HEIGHTS RD 07/28/18, 1426 HOURS Officer received found drugs that were found near location. Reporting party stated they found it while walking through the woods and that there were other items scattered near the area. Evidence was confiscated and entered into evidence. No suspects. DWI—DELAWARE AVE/HUBER AVE 07/28/18, 2014 HOURS Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding. While speaking with the driver, officer could smell the odor of alcoholic beverage. Officer conducted roadside field sobriety tests and a PBT. The driver was ultimately arrested for DWI and booked into Dakota County Jail. DWI—HWY 110/DODD ROAD 07/29/18, 0151 HOURS Officer conducted a traffic stop for a move over violation. Officer could smell the odor of alcoholic beverage. Officer conducted roadside field sobriety tests and submitting to a PBT. The driver was arrested for DWI and booked and released into Dakota County Jail. TAMPERING WITH MOTOR VEHICLE—2XXX LEXINGTON AVE 07/29/18, 0620 HOURS Officers responded to several theft from vehicle reports. There were several vehicles broken into and items stolen. The surveillance cameras were tampered with. Scene was processed for prints. No suspects, case inactive. DAR—HWY 13/VICTORIA RD 07/29/18, 1908 HOURS Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for several moving violations. Upon speaking with the driver, the driver admitted to not having a drivers license and they do not have insurance on the vehicle. The driver was cited for Driving After Revocation and Driving an Uninsured Vehicle. The vehicle was impounded. 3 MENTAL HEALTH/WELFARE CHECK—1XXX MENDOTA HEIGHTS RD 07/29/18, 2358 HOURS While on routine patrol flagged down by gas station clerk concerned about the welfare of a female. Made contact with an adult female sitting in the grass. Female has a history of mental health issues. Ultimately transported back to her group home residence where she was turned over to staff. While clearing she called 911 requesting to go to the hospital. Transported by Health East. RUNAWAY—1XXX KENDON LN 07/30/18, 2218 HOURS Dispatched to a runaway report. The reporting party stated that her daughter had not returned home yet. Gathered information. Daughter was later found in Eagan. Report written. BURGLARY—2XXX LEXINGTON AVE 07/31/18, 2221 HOURS Officer dispatched to the 2300 block of Lexington Avenue on the report of a past action burglary. While the reporting party was on vacation someone entered his residence and removed items. This case in under investigation. ACCIDENT W/INJURIES—WAGON WHEEL/LEXINGTON AVE 08/01/18, 1927 HOURS Officer pulled up to a single vehicle personal injury crash at the intersection of Wagon Wheel and Lexington Ave. Upon investigation it was discovered the driver of the moped involved spun out while accelerating from the intersection. The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated ad released by medics. DRUG ACTIVITY - 7XX MENDOTA HEIGHTS RD 08/01/18, 2035 HOURS Officer was on foot patrol on the 700 block of Mendota Heights Road and located a plastic bag on the ground with what appeared to be marijuana inside of it. Officer took custody of the substance and entered the contents into evidence for proper destruction. RUNAWAY—1XXX KENDON LN 07/30/18, 2218 HOURS Dispatched to a runaway report.
