In 2015, Safe Kids Worldwide reported about 8 children under the age of 5 die each year from falling out of a window and more than 3,000 are injured enough for a hospital visit.  Always supervise children and keep their play area away from windows.  Keep windows closed and locked when children are present.  If windows are open, make sure children can- not reach them.  Screens keep bugs out but do not keep children in.  Keep furniture away from windows as they could climb and possibly fall.  Consider installing ASTM- approved limited opening hardware which allows windows to open just a few inches.
