CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA AIRPORT RELATIONS COMMISSION MINUTES
November 10, 2010
The regular meeting of the Mendota Heights Airport Relations Commission was held on
Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 1101 Victoria Curve, Mendota Heights, Minnesota. The following Commissioners were present: Liz Petschel (Chair), Robin Ehrlich (Vice Chair), Sally Lorberbaum and David Sloan. Absent: Lyle Odland and Bill Dunn
Also present were: David McKnight, Sandra Krebsbach and Danielle Cabot (Patch.com).
Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Commissioner Sloan, seconded by Commissioner Lorberbaum to approve the minutes of the October 13, 2010 ARC Meeting with corrections. Motion passed unanimously.
Airport Noise Report and NOISE
City Administrator David McKnight reviewed information he gathered on the Airport
Noise Report and the city’s membership in the NOISE organization. The city has been a member of NOISE since at least 1998. The annual membership fee is $770, which does not have anything to do with the Airport Noise Report that we receive. The annual cost to receive the Airport Noise Report is $800. Chair Petschel reviewed the Aviation News website she found. Commission members discussed the pros and cons of the Airport Noise Report. City Staff will contact the Airport Noise Report to see if there is a possible reduced price available. Commissioner Ehrlich will contact Aviation News about what
they have to offer.
Minneapolis 60 DNL Issue
City Administrator David McKnight reported that the City of Minneapolis recently approved a resolution establishing 60 DNL as the airport noise threshold for preventive and corrective measures in the environs of Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. They have also asked neighboring cities to take similar action. Richfield and Eagan will consider similar resolutions this month. Chair Petschel explained how this issue evolved from the lawsuit between cities and the MAC. All commissioners were in favor of
incorporating the 60 DNL. The ARC will look to see if Eagan and Richfield pass Commission Meeting –

2 resolutions and bring this issue back with a formal resolution request from the ARC to the City Council. December Meeting

Motion was made by Commissioner Sloan, seconded by Commissioner Lorberbaum to cancel the December 2010 meeting. Award Nomination
Commissioner Ehrlich did not understand the response we received on the award
application. The consensus of the commission was to have staff review the letter and
apply again for the award in 2011. MAC Commissioner Commissioner Ehrlich was concerned about the last meeting with our new MAC commissioner. Commissioners will continue to develop the relationship with Mr. McClung. The ARC will invite Mr. McClung back in the spring of 2011 to a less formal
meeting.

continue to be a priority for her as a councilmember.
