Getting your kids inside, carrying in the groceries, wrapping off that business call, right? Do you consider your security? What about the safety of your family, belongings personal information? Are they worth a couple extra seconds to you, the time it takes to lock your car and secure access to your home? While our community remains quite safe, there are people out there who are happy to take advantage of your confidence in that safety. More and more people, in cities large and small, are finding their vehicles rifled thru, items stolen, or garage door openers stolen and used to enter and burglarize homes. We can’t say it enough: “Keep it locked and out of sight!” Safety starts with you! Consider the following concepts for you and your loved ones: Crimes of Opportunity: Thefts from Vehicles, Mail Theft and Home Burglaries are often the result of “Crimes of Opportunity.” When you see Facebook postings, hear stories from neighbors or read about thefts in our weekly update in JTF, check to see if the victim’s vehicle was left unlocked, a garage door was left open, or the flag on their mailbox was put up to signal the presence of mail. Keep it Shut and Locked! Coach your kids, your spouse, cleaning person – when you enter the home, shut it down. You may feel there’s a great reason to leave it open, but is there any reason better than safety to simply keep it shut and secure? Still not sure? Ask yourself this question, out loud: “What if I or my child was home alone and they entered my home?”   2           THEFT — 6XX Valley Lane 12/08/2017, 0700 HOURS Responded to the 600 block of Valley Lane concerning a theŌ. ReporƟng party said that her daughter had  taken two IPODS without permission. The female was last seen in West St Paul. Area checked female not  located. TheŌ was not witnessed.    THREATS/STALKING — 1XXX 3rd Street 12/08/2017, 1751 HOURS Dispatched to a threats call at the 1300 block of 3rd St. ReporƟng party stated that she has been           threatened by her boyfriend's ex. Gathered informaƟon. Report wriƩen.    THREATS/STALKING — 9XX Chippewa Ave 12/08/2017, 2342 HOURS A woman visiƟng the 900 block of Chippewa received several stalking text messages indicaƟng that she was  being followed while driving. The phone number was blocked and a request for addiƟonal patrol in the area  was submiƩed. No suspect informaƟon is available at this Ɵme.    THEFT — 7XX Willow Lane 12/09/2017, 1300 HOURS Officers were dispatched to a report of theŌ of US Mail that happened in the 700 block of Willow Lane.    THEFT — 9XX Mendota Heights Road 12/11/2017, 1147 HOURS Officers responded to report of a theŌ of laptop on the 900 block of Mendota Heights Road. Case number  was given to the vicƟm and a report was wriƩen    DAMAGE TO PROPERTY— 1XXX Commerce Drive 12/11/2017, 1728 HOURS Officers met with a female in the police department lobby to take a report of her Ɵres being slashed.    THREATS/STALKING — 1XXX Delaware Ave 12/11/2017, 2227 HOURS Responded to the 1800 block of Delaware Avenue on a report of perceived threats made by student.       Subsequent invesƟgaƟon pending.  IDENTITTY THEFT — 1XXX 2nd Street 12/12/2017, 1200 HOURS Responded to a report of idenƟty theŌ from a resident in the 1300 block of 2nd Street in Mendota, MN. No  suspects or evidence. IdenƟty theŌ resources provided.  DOG BITE — 9XX Sibley Court 12/12/2017, 1553 HOURS Officers responded to the 500 block of Sibley Court on the report of a past acƟon dog bite. A report was  wriƩen and the appropriate declaraƟons were made.    SUSPICIOUS PERSON — 1XXX Lilydale Road 12/13/2017, 0103 HOURS  While on rouƟne patrol observed a vehicle parked in the parking lot of a closed business. Made contact  with an adult male and female sleeping. While speaking with them an odor of suspected burnt marijuana  was detected from the interior of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed two grinders and four glass  pipes. Both cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.    IDENTITIY THEFT — 1XXX Aspen Way 12/13/2017, 0744 HOURS ReporƟng party who resides on the 1200 block of Aspen Way had her idenƟty compromised and aƩempted  to be created by an unknown suspect via her social security number. No suspects at this Ɵme.    3         PD ACCIDENT — Pilot Knob Road 12/13/2017, 0832 HOURS Two car, property damage accident at the intersecƟon of Pilot Knob Rd and Mendota Hts. Rd. The Jeep was  stopped at the semaphore waiƟng to turn south on Pilot Knob Rd. from Mendota Hts. Rd. The BMW was  turning onto Mendota Hts. Rd. from Pilot Knob Rd. and slid into the Jeep. MN State Accident Report       Completed.
