Change the Locks
Remember to change the locks when you move into a new house. If you lose the
keys to your house, you should also replace all the locks for the maximum home
security.
Install an Alarm System
Alarm systems are one of the best forms of home protection. Home alarm
systems immediately inform emergency authorities and warn homeowners of any
potential dangers. Seeing that a home has an alarm system or hearing an alarm go
off, will send burglars running. Hide all security wiring to prevent intruders from
cutting wires.
Give the Appearance that your House is Occupied
Professional burglars seek locations where owners are away from their home for
an extended period of time. Install automatic timers and have a relative or friend
check on your home .
Create a Secure “Hide-a-Key”
Never hide a key in the mailbox or under the doormat. Wrap your key in foil and
place it in a secret spot that only your family knows about.
Light Up the Entrance to Your Home
Lighting up with an infrared detector automatically turns on when someone is in a
specific zone/area. No burglar wants to be in easy view while committing a crime.
Install Deadbolt Locks
All exterior doors should have at least 1 inch thick deadbolt locks. They are more
expensive but are stronger and offer more protection. While installing, make sure
to leave a minimal amount of space between the door and its frame to prevent an
intruder trying to pry the door apart.
Use Interior Door Hinges
If your door has hinges on the outside of your house, an intruder can easily
remove the hinge pin to gain entry. Reset your hinges to the interior.
Protect Your Windows
Protect these vulnerable areas with window locks and/or burglar-resistant glass.
Installing many small panes of glass instead of one large pane of glass is a good
option as well.

HAVE A SAFE WEEK!
How to make your
vehicle less appealing
to thieves:
Always Lock Up!
Grab your Keys
Leaving your keys in the
ignition and/or idling is like
saying “steal me!”
Follow the Light
Park in well lit areas.
Shut Windows & Sunroof
Leaving them open just a
crack can ask for break-ins.
Avoid Leaving Valuables
If you have to, leave them in
the trunk.
Use Anti-Theft Devices
Car alarms, steering wheel
locks, car disabling locks and
a tracking system.
Use a Smart Key
Certain car models use smart
keys which can’t be
duplicated or altered. A
driver needs that key and
only that key to start the
ignition.
