Driving is already stressful enough, but recent weather
conditions has really made getting around extra difficult.
Although most of us are used to driving in snowy weather,
sometimes we need a
reminder on ways to practice
safe winter driving.

Get out the crayons and help us decorate our lobby! MHPD is hosting our annual Winter Wonderland
Coloring Contest for children ages 0 - 10 who live in or go to school in our city! We are offering three
different coloring pages, based on your child’s age, which are:
To enter, print out the appropriate coloring page from the selections attached for your child’s age.
The forms are included in this newsletter and can also be found on the Mendota Heights Police De-
partment Facebook page and on the police page of our city website. Show us your best coloring on
the page, complete the entry form at the bottom and return the page to MHPD no later than Friday,
January 27th at 4:30 p.m.
Winners will be chosen and notified on Monday, January 30th. The winning artwork will be posted in
the 2/03/17 JTF as well as on the city website and MHPD Facebook page. The winners will receive
Juice & Donuts with an Officer for up to 7 guests! Plus, every entry we receive will be displayed in our
police lobby.

WARRANT ARREST — 1XXX Hwy 13 FRIDAY, 1/6, 0758 HOURS
Officer conducted a traffic stop near the Scenic Overlook for misdemeanor warrant and revoked registered owner. The driver was identified as the registered owner and was arrested and transported to DCJ. A citation for DAR was mailed. PD ACCIDENT — Pilot Knob Rd/494 FRIDAY, 1/6, 0840 HOURS
Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident where one vehicle rear ended another. There were no injuries and slight damage to one vehicle. FRAUD — 1XXX Mendota Heights Rd FRIDAY, 1/6, 1011 HOURS
Officer responded by phone call to complainant reference attempted corporate fraud at a business.
No monies were gained. Fraud attempt was initiated in Houston TX. Police Report also filed there.

DRUG PARAPHERNALIA — 5XX Mendota Heights Rd FRIDAY, 1/6, 2341 HOURS
Officers observed two vehicles in a park on Mendota Heights Rd after hours. After a brief investigation, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found. A citation was issued to the owner of the marijuana and paraphernalia. TRAFFIC STOP — 110/Dodd Rd SATURDAY, 1/7, 0334 HOURS
Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding and driving erratically. The driver displayed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. A warrant was issued for a blood test to be taken at the hospital where the driver was treated for previously sustained injuries. The driver was released to the care of the hospital pending the results of the blood test and subsequent formal charging. FRAUD— 14XX Knollwood Lane SATURDAY, 1/7, 1149 HOURS
Officers took report from resident of 1400 block of Knollwood Ln of theft by swindle. A suspect posing as a computer technician convinced her to charge money on her credit card to fix her computer. Complainant brought computer to Best Buy who told her it had been a scam and to file a police report. Bank notified/account closed. Credit reporting agencies notified. THEFT— 9XX Sibley Memorial SUNDAY, 1/8, 0702 HOURS
Officer responded to gas drive off from local gas station. The passenger of a vehicle pumped gas and then left without paying. The license plate did not match the vehicle description given by the employee. This incident is inactive. WARRANT ARREST — 35E N MONDAY, 1/9, 0209 HOURS
Officers stopped a driver for making an illegal U-turn. The driver provided a false name and was found in possession of marijuana. The driver was confirmed to have a warrant. The driver was ar-rested.

DUI — 35E MONDAY, 1/9, 0246 HOURS
Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the southbound lane of 35E and Wagon Wheel Trail
for swerving in own lane and crossing the shoulder lane. Officer conducted field sobriety test and
the driver ultimately was arrested for misdemeanor DWI and possession of drug paraphernalia.
FALSE INFO TO POLICE — Dakota Drive MONDAY, 1/9, 0642 HOURS
Officer stopped vehicle for expired registration. Driver did not have drivers license or identification
with her. Ran license check by name and date of birth provided. Information was not on file. Ob-
tained actual name, status of revoked. Driver mailed citation for offenses. Case Status: Cleared by
Citation
FRAUD — 21XX Fox Place MONDAY, 1/9, 0948HOURS
Officer responded to lobby concerning a walk-in fraud report. Victim had his fuel only credit card
used without authorization for purchasing high value retail items . The source of the breach is
unknown at this time, the suspect/s had lifted the max credit line of $200. The purchases indicate
they were made out of state in excess of $20,000. The victim was explained the procedure of
contacting his credit card company and employer.
PD ACCIDENT — Hwy 13/Hwy 55 TUESDAY, 1/10, 1943 HOURS
Dakota County Parks Unit found a single vehicle that had struck the guard rail on Hwy 13 under the
Mendota Bridge. Officers arrived but there was no one around and they were unable to find
contact info for owner. Due to unsafe weather conditions and the vehicle being partial into the lane
South East towed the vehicle. State accident was filled out.
BURGLARY—5XX Emerson Ave WEDNESDAY, 1/11, 0900 HOURS
Officers responded to an after the fact burglary. Resident came home to find the front door open.
Officers cleared the home and learned several items had been removed from the residence. Active
Investigation.
FLEEING/ STOLEN AUTO— Dorset Rd WEDNESDAY, 1/11, 1948 HOURS
Received report of suspicious person and a vehicle in a neighborhood. A plate number and vehicle
description was provided; vehicle was found to be stolen. Officers from WSPPD and MH respond-
ed, vehicle was located and suspect vehicle proceeded to flee. A short pursuit resulted in the vehi-
cle getting stuck in a snowbank. Juvenile occupants were removed from the vehicle and taken into
custody. Formal charges pending.
