Res 67 - 72 Recommending the Adoption of Legislation Providing for an Elected Metropolitan Area Development CouncilVillage of Mendota Heights Dakota County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO. 72 RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THE ADOPTION OF LEGISLATION PROVIDING FOR AN ELECTED METRO- POLITAN AREA DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL WHEREAS, the Village Council of the Village of Mendota Heights is vitally concerned and interested in the various proposals before the Minnesota Legislature providing for the creation of a Metropolitan Area Development Council, and WHEREAS, the Village Council is in favor of the concept embodied in the bill proposed by Senator.Herman Ogdahl providing for an elected Metropolitan Area Development Council as opposed to an appointed or coordinating body, and WHEREAS, the Village Council in principle is in favor of a 29 member elected Metropolitan Area Development Council with each member of said Council having one vote. I NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HE RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Mendota Heights as follows: 1) The Village Council of the Village of Mendota Heights hereby urges and recommends the Legislature of the State of Minnesota to adopt legislation pro- viding for a Metropolitan Area Development Council consisting of an elected Council as opposed to an appointed or coordinating body and under which each member of said Council would be entitled to one vote. ' 2) The Village Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the appropriate legislative committees so that said n committees will be advised of the above recom- mendations of the Village Council of the Village of Mendota Heights.
