Res 68 - 157 Authorizing Purchase of Lands into Park Purposes1 Village of Mendota Heights Dakota County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO. 157 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF LANDS FOR PARK PURPOSES WHEREAS, Richard Parranto, the negotiator retained by the Village for the purpose of negotiating sites for Village open land and park purposes, has presented proposed Earnest Money Contracts calling for the purchase of certain parcels for said purposes by the Village, and WHEREAS, said Earnest Money Contracts, all of which have been signed by the landowners, cover the following properties and are in the following amounts: LANDOWNER: Ralph D. and Rowene M. Skinner PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: Lot Five (5), Block Five (5), Gardenville Re -Arrangement. (Site No. 3, Parcel No. 1) PURCHASE PRICE: $2,000.00 LANDOWNER: Joan M. Tomkinson PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: Lot Six (6), Block Five (5), Gardenville Re -Arrangement. (Site No. 3, Parcel No. 2) PURCHASE PRICE: $1,600.00 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LANDOWNER: Irving and Carol Samuelson PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: Lots Seven (7) and Eight (8), Block Six (6), Gardenville Re -Arrangement. (Site No. 3, Parcel No. 3) PURCHASE PRICE: $4,200.00 LANDOWNER: PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: Carl G. and Florence Bartusch The East 350 feet of the West 7 acres of the South 20 rods of the Northeast Quarter (NE 1/4) of the Northeast Quarter (NE 1/4) of Section Thirty -Three (33), Township Twenty -Eight (28) North, Range Twenty -Three (23) West. (Site No. 3, Parcel No. 4) . PURCHASE PRICE: $7,250.00 I LANDOWNER: J. R. Hagenmeister PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: The West 150 feet of the East 3 acres of the South 20 rods of the Northeast Quarter (NE 1/4) of the Northeast Quarter (NE 1/4) of Section Thirty -Three (33), Township Twenty -Eight (28) North, Range Twenty -Three (23) West. (Site No. 3, Parcel No. 5) PURCHASE PRICE: $2,500.00 and WHEREAS, Mr. Parranto reported that the acquisition of the parcel designated in his appraisal report as Site No. 5, Parcel No. 1 would not be in the best interests of the Village because of the fact that the appraisals did not take into account the fact that acquisition of the land would in effect, necessitate paying for the house situated upon the property the result of which would be to substantially increase the cost of said parcel, and WHEREAS, Mr. Parranto recommended that in lieu of said Site No. 5, Parcel No. 1, a parcel in the immediate area consisting of approximately 4.19 acres and owned by Marie Schiefner be acquired by the Village, and WHEREAS, Mr. Parranto presented a proposed Earnest Money Contract signed by said Marie Schiefner providing for a purchase price of $12,970.00 covering the following described property situated in the Village in Dakota County, Minnesota, to -wit: Subject to Wentworth Avenue, Lot One (1), Vandall's Outlots, except that part of the Southerly 158 feet of said Lot One (1) lying Easterly of the following described line: Beginning at a point on the South line of'the Northwest Quarter (NW 1/4) of Section Twenty -Four (24), Township Twenty -Eight (28), Range Twenty -Three (23), said point being 1657.67 feet Eastdrly from the Southwest corner of said Northwest Quarter (NW 1/4); thence Northerly at right angles 158 feet and there terminating. WHEREAS, the purchase of said properties upon the terms and conditions hereinabove contained, is in the best interest of the Village. NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Mendota Heights, as follows: . -2- 1) That the Mayor and the Clerk of the Village are hereby authorized and directed to execute the Earnest Money Contracts hereinabove described on behalf of the Village, and 2) That the Village Attorney be and is hereby authorized and directed to take all steps necessary to consummate the purchase of said properties upon the terms and conditions hereinabove contained.
