RESOLUTION REQUESTING METROPOLITAN COUNCIL HEARING
ON CITY OF EAGAN LAND USE DEVELOPMENT GUIDE
��
! WHEREAS, the City of Eagan has prepared a Land Use Development
�,._.." Guide and has submitted it to adjoining municipalities and the
� Metropolitan Council for review; and
Wi�REAS, review of the plan results in the following
ovservations:
l. Proposed land uses west of T.H. 55 adjacent to
Mendota Heights appear to be compatible with
land uses planned in Mendota Heights;
2. Land uses between T.H. 55 and T.H. 49 will
depend largely on future highway development
plans;
3. Proposed land uses east of T.H. 49 adjacent
to Mendota Heights appear to be incompatible;
and
WHEREAS, the proposed Regional Shopping Center use, consisting
of approximately 625 acres, will impact the surrounding area with
increased vehicular traffic, resulting in additional air pollution,
noise pollution, added developmental pressures for supporting
businesses; and
WI�REAS, Mendota Heights officials, and others, have not had an
opportunity to review an environmental impact study based on the most
recent MHD plans for I-494, I-35E, T.H. 55 and T.H. 49, thereby have
little or no knowledge of the impact expected from these facilities;
and'
WHEREAS, land use plans for property adjacent to the R.S.C. in
Mendota Heights have remained as Single Family Residential since 1959;
and '
WE�REAS, the Metropolitan Council is empowered to conduct hearings.
on matters such as the adoption of comprehensive plans;
NOW THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Mendota Heights that the City of Mendota Heights hereby requests
the Metropolitan Council to conduct a public hearing on the Eagan
Comprehensive Plan; and

IT IS FURTHER RESQLVED, that clase 5crutiny be given to the
probable adverse e�fec�s oi the R,S.C. uses, caupled with the many
lanes of traffic as proposed for the'aforementioned in�erchange; and
IT IS �tJRTHER RESQVED that tYte several governments, agencies
and awners involved be gathered together to a�tempt to resalve the
many coneerns.
