RESOLUTION NO. 74-29
RESOLUTION URGING DAKOTA COUNTY OFFICIALS TO
CONTINUE HEARING ON PLATTING LEGISLATION
WHEREAS, Dakota County officials initiated legislation relating to plat
approval contiguous to existing or proposed county roads, namely Chapter 416,
Laws 1973, which was approved by County Board action on June 5, 1973; and
Wf�REAS, this special County legislation adds duplication to existing
statutes relating to platting; and
WHEREAS, County officials are now proposing an ordinance to implement
said Chapter 416; and
WHEREAS, local officials, namely Council members and Planning Commission
ir�embers, have not had a chance to review said ordinance or assess the effect
it may have on current municipal platting practices; and
WHEREAS, it is acknowledged that County officials have responsibilities
as land use relates to covnty highyaays;

NOW THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Mendota Heights that the City Council hereby strongly urges the Dakota County
officials to continue the April 9th hearing to beyond August lst; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that d�ring the interim steps be taken to involve
local officials, in an effort to effect the results that:
1. Standards and cri�teria be established in order to
constructively assess and comment on proposed plats;
2. The resulting ordinance reflect input from local
officials;
3. Copies of the revised proposed ordinance be circulated
to all local governments for timely consideration before
the next hearing; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be sent to all
County Board members. ,
