Res 78 - 62 Relative to Alignment of I-35E Through Dakota CountyCity of Mendota Heights Dakota County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO. 78-62 RESOLUTION RELATIVE TO ALIGNMENT OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY I -35E THROUGH DAKOTA COUNTY WHEREAS, through its environmental impact statement approved by the Federal Highway Administration on August 11, 1977, the Minnesota Department of Transportation elected as the I -35E routing Alternate A-1 which entails the bridging over Blackhawk Lake covering approximately 40 acres in the City of Eagan, in Dakota County, Minnesota, and WHEREAS, the total segment of I -35E contemplated in the -proposed construction project extends from State Trunk Highway 110 in Mendota Heights southwesterly to Interstate 35 a distance of 13 miles, and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has heretofore filed its Permit Application 78-6176 with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for the purposes of obtaining approval to bridge over said Blackhawk Lake, and WHEREAS, a hearing on said permit application has been set by the said Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and WHEREAS, Associated Families, consisting of a partnership of seven families residing on the north side of Blackhawk Lake, has filed a petition to intervene in said hearing pursuant to Minnesota Statutes §116.B09 alleging pollution, impairment and destruction to said lake by virtue of said bridging, and WHEREAS, the construction of I -35E in Dakota County as designed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and as previously approved by the affected municipalities in the County of Dakota has been unduly delayed causing adverse effects on the various governmental units involved, and WHEREAS, the City of Mendota Heights by its resolution No. 76-78 adopted by the Mendota Heights City Council on October 5, 1976, stated its strong support for the original Alternate A-1 in the general vicinity of Deerwood Drive, Blackhawk Lake and Pilot Knob Road as the corridor for I -35E through Dakota County including the proposed bridge over Blackhawk Lake. NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights that it hereby reiterates its strong support for the original Alternate A-1 in the general vicinity of Deerwood Drive, Blackhawk Lake and Pilot Knob Road as a corridor for I -35E through Dakota County including specifically the bridge over Blackhawk Lake.
