RESOLUTION SUPPORTING JOINT CABLE'COMMISSION, AUTHORIZING
APPROPRIATIONS AND APPOINTING REPRESENTATIVES

WHEREAS, Cable TV and its associated data transmitting character-
istics appears to be a desireable utility in the future; and
WHEREAS, the Mendota Heights Cable Advisory Commission has
studied the needs, the technology and the laws, and has submitted
its report to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Cable Advisory Commission recommends that Mendota
Heights join with other municipalities in forming a Joint Cable
Communications Commission under a Joint Powers Agreement, and sharing
in the organizing and development expenses.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council this 20th day
of October, that the City of Mendota Heights hereby expresses its
desire to enter a Joint Powers Agreement with the other municipalities
of the established Cable Service Territory in accordance with
Minnesota State Statute 471.59 to establish a Joint Cable Communication
Commission, for the purpose of promoting a Cable System franchise; and

BE IT FURTHR RESOLVED, that Mendota Heights appropriate the sum
of $1,000 towards the expenses of such Joint Powers Agreement and
will consider additional appropriations from time to time; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mendota Heightslrepresentatives
to such a Joint Cable Communications Commission be Councilman James
P. Losleben and Cable Advisory Commission Chairman David H. Zemke,
and that City staff add support, as needed, as Mendota Heights'
share of the development tasks. 4
