RESOLUTION NO. 84- 46
RESOLUTION REQUESTING METROPOLITAN COUNCIL REVIEW OF
WATER RATES CHARGED BY THE ST. PAUL BOARD OF WATER COMMISSIONERS
TO SUBURBAN CUSTOMERS
WHEREAS, residents of the cities of Mendota Heights, West St. Paul and
Maplewood purchase water at retail from the St. Paul Board of Water Commissioners;
and
WHEREAS, the Board has historically charged a 20% surcharge to customers
outside the city limits of St.Paul; and
WHEREAS, the three suburban communities are currently attempting to
renew contracts for continued water service by St. Paul; and
WHEREAS, none of those cities have received sufficient justification for
the 20% surcharge; and further, no progress is being made between the Board and
the suburban cities to resolve that concern.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mendota
Heights that they join with the City of Maplewood in requesting that the Metro-
politan Council involve itself as a third party in attempting to achieve an
equitable solution to a regional problem.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights this Seventh day of
August, 1984.
