Res 1986 - 93 Denying Pump & Meter Service's Conditional Use Permit Request to Add Motor Fuel Tanks to the Tom Thumb Superette Store at 1944 Dodd RoadCITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS Dakota County, Minnesota RESOLUTION NO. 86- 93 RESOLUTION DENYING PUMP AND METER SERVICE'S CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT REQUEST TO ADD MOTOR FUEL' TANKS TO THE TOM THUMB SUPERETTE STORE AT 1944 DODD ROAD WHEREAS, Pump and Meter Service, 1800 2nd Street South, Hopkins, Minnesota, has applied to the City of Mendota Heights for a Conditional Use Permit to add motor fuel pumps to the Tom Thumb Superette at 1944 Dodd Road; and WHEREAS, the Mendota Heights Planning Commission, after conducting the required public hearing on October 22, 1986; voted unanimously to recommend to the City Council denial of said Conditional Use Permit; and WHEREAS, the property is contiguous to a residential district and at the public hearing many of those residents were in attendance and were adamantly opposed to the adding of the motor fuel station citing such concerns as increased refuse problem, light pollution and added traffic; and WHEREAS, .in the event service pumps are.installed as,proposed, there would not be adequate area for maneuvering and turn room for cars or safety vehicles; and WHEREAS, the adding of the motor fuel islands reduces the number of parking stalls, such that there will no longer be the ,number of parking-stallsrrequired tby the zoning ordinance;_ andli r _ u nar c:: land WHEREAS, the current zoning of the propertylis currently B-2 and motor fuel stations are not allowed in the B-2 zoning district. NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights that Pump and Meter Service's, applicant for a Conditional Use Permit to add motor fuel service pumps to the Tom Thumb Superette at 1944 Dodd Road be denied.
