Res 1991 - 71 Proclaiming the Week of November 8-15, 1991 as MN Chemical Health Week Encouraging Citizens to Commit to the Reduction & Prevention of Drug & Alcohol Abuse� CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 91- '11 A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE WEER OF NOVEMBER 8-15, 1991 MINNESOTA CHEMICAL HEALTH WEER ENCOURAGING CITIZENS TO COMMIT TO THE REDUCTION AND PREVENTION OF DRIIG AND ALCOHOL AS ABUSE WHEREAS, alcohol and other drug abuse in this Nation has reached epidemic stages, and the fifteen to twenty-=four year old age group is dying at a faster rate than any other age group; and WHEREAS, it is imperative that visible, united prevention education efforts by community members be launched to reduce the demand for drugs; and WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Action Project on Drug Abuse Prevention and the Independent School District No. 197 Parent's Communication Network are sponsoring the Minnesota Chemical Health Week offering citizens the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to drug free lifestyles; and WHEREAS, this annual Minnesota Chemical Health Week will be celebrated during the week of November 8-15, 1991; and WHEREAS, Governor Arne Carlson is the State honorary chairperson to provide this community focus on a drug free Minnesota; and WHEREAS, business, government, law enforcement, schools, religious institutions, service organizations, youth, physicians, senior citizens, military, sports teams and other individuals will demonstrate their commitment to drug free, healthy lifestyles by wearing and displaying red ribbons during this week long campaign. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RE30LVED that the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights does hereby proclaim November 8-15, 1991, as Minnesota Chemical Health Week and encourages its citizens to participate in drug prevention education activities, making a visible statement that we are strongly committed to a drug free community. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Mendata heights encaurages all ci�izens to support and become invalved in our community's commitment to reduce and prevent the abuse o� alcohol and oth�r drug�.
