Res 1992 - 88 Requesting the Metropolitan Airports Commission to Immediately Enact a Mandatory Noise Budget Ordinance at MSP AirportCITY OF M�NDOTA 8$IGHTS DAROTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 92-88 A R]3SOLIITION REQIIESTING THE METROPOLITAN AIRPORTS CON�lISSION TO IN�lEDIATELY ENACT A M�11�TDATORY NOISL BIIDGET ORDINANCE AT MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT �HFsREAS, the City of Mendota Heights is severely impacted by air noise pollution emanating from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), and LPHEREAS, the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) is responsible for minimizing environmental impacts from air navigation and transportation, and �PHEsREAS, the MAC recently reported that aircraft noise levels at MSP are in violation of a voluntary Noise Abatement Ordinance which was first established in 1987, and WSi3RRAS, the MAC is currently considering what actions should be taken to address the noted violations, and WHFsREAS, the MAC has specifically requested public comment on the various noise ordinance options available to the MAC. NO� THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Mendota Heights that the MAC should immediately enact a new mandatory Noise Budget Ordinance to achieve meaningful air noise reduction at MSP. BE IT FIIRTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the MAC for inclusion in the public record currently being developed on this issue.
