RESOLUTION NO. 93-54
RESOLUTION REVISING CABLEVISION POLICY
WHEREAS, the Northern Dakota County Cable Communication
Commission (NDC-4) has provided to the City the audio/visual
equipment necessary for recording City Council meetings; and
WHEREAS, a local government channel, cable channel 18, has
been made available by Continental Cablevision for the
broadcasting of public meetings and government programming; and
WHEREAS, at its meeting on January 17, 1989 Council adopted
a policy relating to cablecasting, broadcasting and taping
meetings;
WHEREAS, on September 21, 1993, Council discussed the need
to update the policy and arrived at consensus over revisions;
NOW THEREFORE IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Mendota Heights, that the following be adopted as the
City's policy on the cablecasting of City Council meetings:
1. That insofar as is possible all regular meetings of the
City Council and Planning Commission shall be broadcast
live over the local government cable channel;
2. That the approved written minutes of City Council
meetings are`the official record of the City.
3. That videotapes of said meetings shall not be deemed to
be the official record of the city;
4. That said tapes shall be retained by NDC-4 for channel
18 playback purposes only and shall be reused
immediately thereafter;
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights this
Twenty-first day of September, 1993.
