RESOLUTION NO. 97- 43
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A 1Q FOOT SETBACK VARIANCE
AND A 40 SQUA.RE F04T SIZE VARIANCE
TO ROYAL REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHURCH FOR A NEW SIGN
WHEREAS, Ms. Mary Maore, on behalf of Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church
has requested a 20 foot setback variance and a 40 square foot size variance for a new sign,
as proposed an plans on file in Planning Case No. 97-25; and
WfIEREAS, The Plaxuling Commission of the City of Mendota Heights held a
public hearing on this appiication at their July 29, 1997 meeting; and
WHI�REAS, The Planning Commission voted 6-0 (with ane Commissioner
absent) on Ju1y 29, 1997 ta recommend that the City Council apprave a 2Q' setback
vaziance, but failed on a 2-4 vote to xecommend appraval of the size variance,
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by. the City Council of the
City of Mendata Heights that a 14 foat setback variance and a 4Q square foat size
variance for a new sign, as proposed on plans an file in Planning Case No. 9i-13 is
herebX granted under the follawing conditians:
I. The sign sha11 be 10' fram the praperty line and 20' fram the curb.
2. A total of b4 sc}uare feet of sign surface (including both sides} shall be allowed
3. The sign sha11 be two feet shorter than the original plan submitted to the City and
shall not feature the "risers" shown on the ariginal elevations submitted to the CitX.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mendota
Heights that the proposed 20' setback variance and 40 squaze foot size variance fox a new
sign, as propased an plans an file in Planning Case No. 97-25 will have no adverse
irnpact on the health, safety or general welfare af the citizens of the carnmunity and the
surrounding land, and wauld not be adverse to the general purpase and intent af the
Zoning Ordinance.
