Res 1999 - 26 Requesting an Extension of Time for the Completion of the Mendota Heights Comprehensive PlanCITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 99- 26 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AN EXTENSION OF TIME FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE MENDOTA HEIGHTS COMPREHENSIVE PLAN WHEREAS, State statutes require that cities revise and prepare their Comprehensive Plan for submission to the Metropolitan Council by December 31, 1998; and WHEREAS, the City of Mendota Heights has previously requested and received a six month extension, to that deadline extending it to June 30, 1999, and • WHEREAS, the City of Mendota Heights has made significant progress in the drafting of various chapters of the Comprehensive Plan, however, is unable to complete all the necessary chapters to the Plan and to conduct the appropriate public input process and review by adjacent governmental units prior to the State imposed deadline; and WHEREAS, issues of aircraft noise, which are a key ingredient in land use planning, are a factor in Mendota Heights Comprehensive Plan preparation, and to date Aircraft Noise boundaries are still unresolved; and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) is currently studying Aircraft Noise Zone boundaries as they affect Mendota Heights, but will not be completed with their study until after the June 30, 1999 deadline. NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights requests that the Metropolitan Council grant the City of Mendota Heights a second six month extension to complete its Comprehensive Plan; circulate the revised document , to the adjacent governmental units and school districts for review and comment; and following review by the Planning Commission and after consideration and approval by the City Council, submit the plan to the Metropolitan Council for review.
