RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CAROLYN KRALL TO APPLY FOR A METROPOLITAN
COUNCIL LIVABLE COMMUNITIES GRANT
WHEREAS the City of Mendota Heights was awarded a Metropolitan Council Livable Community
Grant of $150,000 in 2000; and
WHEREAS the Metropolitan Council is now accepting grants in specific categories to be used for
project and site planning, as well as design and construction costs which further the "livable quality" of
a proj ect; and
WHEREAS Architect Carolyn Krall and the design team have prepared a grant application
requesting funds to further the livable quality of the Town Center development by:
• assuring the quality of design and construction;
• providing a network of new trails with a marked trail head;
• providing interpretive plaques, monuments and exhibits that tell the story of the
area;
• assuring the existence of a village green;
• assuring a community arbor/gazebo on the green which will serve as a gathering
place for community events, etc.
WHEREAS the City Council is seeking a"village community" style development, and believes
that the receipt of a Metropolitan Council Livable Communities grant would help ensure that these
desirable public amenities would be included in the project.
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mendota
Heights that Architect Cazolyn Krall is authorized to apply for a Metropolitan Council Livable
Communities Grant for the Mendota Heights Town Center project.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights this 15th day of May, 2001.
