RESOLUTION O1-31
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A 20-FOOT HEIGHT VARIANCE
FOR A PYLON SIGN AT 1330 NORTHLAND DRIVE
WHEREAS, Tharaldson Enterprises at 1330 Northland Drive has applied for a 20-Foot
Height Variance for a pylon sign as proposed in Planning Case #01-11; and
WHEREAS, The Planning Commission held a public hearing on this application at their
regular meeting on May 22, 2001; and
WHEREAS, The Planning Commission voted 5-2 to recommend that the Council
approve this application;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Mendota Heights that a 20-Foot Height Variance for a pylon sign as proposed in Planning
Case #01-11 is hereby approved on the following conditions:
1. The pole sign shall be no larger than the Courtyard Marriott pole sign next door.
2. The base of the monument sign shall remain as is.
3. The building-mounted signage shall be eliminated so that the total square footage of
signage on the property does not exceed the limit defined by the Zoning Ordinance.
4. All illuminated signage on the property shall be internally lit and no brighter than the
Courtyard Marriott's signs.
BE IT FiTRTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights
that the Code Enforcement Officer is hereby authorized to issue the appropriate sign permits.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights
that this 20-Foot Height Variance for a pylon sign as proposed in Planning Case #O1-11 would
not have an adverse impact on the health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of the
community and the surrounding land, and would not be adverse to the general purpose and intent
of the Zoning Ordinance.
