A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING CONCERN
OVER THE PACE OF DEPLOYMENT
OF HIGH-SPEED INTERNET SERVICE
WITHIN THE CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS
WHEREAS, The City of Mendota Heights is concerned about the availability of new
high-speed data communications services in our business community, and
WHEREAS, The City is Mendota Heights is specifically concerned that US West has
not made investments in the telecommunications infrastructure supporting our community in a
manner conducive to our ability to attract and retain new e -businesses and other enterprises
requiring advanced networking services.
WHEREAS, Mendota Heights has made significant investments in the support our
office parks on Centre Point Drive and the Industrial Park in the southwest area of the City, and
WHEREAS, business interests within the City of Mendota Heights have expressed
frustration with the slow progress of US West in providing high-speed Internet access to their
businesses, and
WHEREAS, The City is concerned about the ability of the new `dot-coms' and e-
commerce firms to gain access to the networking services they need in Mendota Heights, and
WHEREAS, A capable telecommunications infrastructure is imperative for survival in
the new digital economy.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Mendota Heights that the City will make every effort to ensure that Mendota Heights has the
telecommunications infrastructure and services to support our constituents and the new business
environment.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council hereby requests that US West inform
the Council about its infrastructure plans, service plans and deployment schedule for Mendota
Heights.

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Mendota Heights, Minnesota was duly held at the City Hall in Mendota Heights on Tuesday,
the 16th day of May, 2000, at 7 : 30o'clock P.M.
The following councilmembers were present:Mertensotto, Huber, Krebsbach,
Dwyer and Schneeman
and the following were absent: None
Councilmember S chneeman introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 00-46
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE AND SALE OF
$2,300,000 VARIABLE RATE DEMAND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT
REFUNDING REVENUE BONDS (DAKOTA BUSINESS PLAZA PROJECT)
SERIES 2000 TO REFINANCE A PROJECT
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by
Councilmember Dwyer and upon vote being taken thereon the following voted in
favor thereof: All Yea
and the following voted against the same:
None
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
