RESOLUTION NO. 00-79
RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING OCTOBER 8, 2000 AS "TOM MALCHOW DAY" IN
RECOGNITION OF HIS BECOMING AN OLYMPIC CHAMPION
WHEREAS, the summer 2000 games of the XVII Olympiad were held in Sydney,
Australia: and
WHEREAS, Tom Malchow was a member of the 2000 United States Olympic
Men's Swimming Team; and
WHEREAS, Tom Malchow won the Olympic gold medal in the men's 200 -meter
butterfly competition; and
WHEREAS, the City of Mendota Heights is extremely proud to be Tom
Malchow's home town.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council in appreciation of
his dedication, training and victory hereby proclaims Sunday, October 8, 2000 as
"Tom Malchow Day" and congratulates Tom Malchow for his exceptional
sportsmanship and achievement at the 2000 Olympic Summer Games and
recognizes him for bringing honor to Mendota Heights, the State of Minnesota
and the Nation.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Mendota Heights this 3rd day of
October, 2000
