F3, City Administrator SUBJECT: Denial of Flood Damage Claim from Rodney and Paula Carey, 976 Douglas Drive I think most of you are aware that when we experienced the huge storm on July 23, water from Marie Park backed up into the basement of the Care home at 976 Douglas Drive. The Carey's subsequently submitted a claim to the City in the amount of approximately $80,000 for damages to their property. Attached is a notice from our insurance carrier denying the claim. Adjuster Giefer informs me that after investigating the situation, he concluded that it would not be financially possible for the City to have constructed a storm drainage system of a size and magnitude to totally contain the storm of July 23, and therefore could not have reasonably prevented the damage to the Carey home.
