Gentlemen:
11e should like to record our
opposition to the vJork proposed for our
area.
The expenditures seem too great,
and the distribution of such costs does not
seem to be equitable.
For one particular thing, vae do not
see th e need for cement curbing, nor do ie
think it necessary to rrriden the roads. Since
Chip-pez•ra Avenue vras widened, it has ecome a

1re also think that the drainage

reasonable manner at much less cost.

Dear Mr. Johnson:
March 3, 1976
At the meeting on February 2
was very obvious to see that every individual in the hall was ver
opposed to this big project of storm sewers, etc. I hereby firml
this project for the following reasons:
a. It would cost me approxim
$6300 as Ihave a big corner lot.
b. I am a widow with no pens
and have to work to survive, and could not possibly afford to
pay such an exorbitant sum.

does not need a storm sewer in that we are all on high ground
with no water problem, and it would be appreciated if you wou d

I would have to sell my home in order to pay the cost, and
certainly never thought of doing so, but the Council would fo ce

The successful result of this lavasuit is due in no srnall

It is my belief that the payment of such substanti

Basically, I am opposed to being assessed for the improvement of th
Sewer System and an additional lien on my property.
I find myself in an extreme financial crisis and have just been for ed
to assume an additional burden due to the fact that Ashley has been
resurfaced.
I should be most grateful to you if you would advise the Council

R: Stop Signs at Juncions of
Hilltop Road, Hill.op Court
and Wachtier Avenue'
Dear Qrville:

Following up on aur canversation about a week ago
regarding the removal of the stap signs on Hill.op Road
at the above junctions, please let this stand as my ab-
jection to tha.s decision. As you knaw, T have lived in
my gresent resident at 795 Hilltop Court for over fi.fteen
years; I have served on the Planning Commission and Vil.-
lage Council for a goad part of this time, and therfore
feel qualified to make the following abservation:
. l. The Samerset Hzlls subdivision has always been
cansidered a low density, residential area and because of
its location, and the absence of vehicular arteries, there
is no reason or through streets or uncantralled traffic
mavements;
2. The removal of the stop signs has resulted in.
aubstantial speedup of traffic eas and west on Hilltop
Raad; from persanal observaion, it is not all unuual
for auontobiles, trucks,-school %uses, etc., to pass throue
the abcave intersections at speeds clearly in excess of 30
mil.es an hour. Approaching this intersection fram either
the east or the west, visibility is limited by the crest
of the hill and by the terrain, in that the road makes a
turn right at the junction. There are a number of sma11. "
children in our area (mine have grown up - same.imes} who
ride bikes and play in and araund the stree area, and be-
cause af the .errain, thy are not visible rom a safe
stopping distance. One o:c our re?ghbar' dog was recently
run over and lilled because s rp; u io me, trafic
naw moves at such a speed alorig H?lltop Road,

3. Wi.h all due respec o uniformity of trafic
cantrals, rafic research reparts, ec., I do believe hat
those who iive ir a neighborhaod and are aware o£ eopl
movcments, are in a better posiian to determine what i
necessary for -he control of .rafic for the safety of hose
who live there, than one who has made, at best, a curor
study of the situatian. The trafic control signs have been
in place far as long as I have lived on Hillfi.op Cour a d
although admit.edly there are some wha consistently mak
"running staps", they have served to low down traffic. The
remaval of the sigr3s is an invitatian to high speecl driv ng
and i feel that I can safely predict that it is just a at-
ter of time beore a tragedy accurs.
I s.rongly urge the Council to consider the replac
o fi:.he signs. The above sets £orth my thinking on the
ject; if I can. add anything £urther, I would be happy
appear and be heard on the subjec..
