Adjourn e CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGIiTS MEMO July 10, 1990 To: Mayor, City Council and City Adminr From: Kevin Batchelder, Administrative Assista t Subject: Correction on Centex Memo DISCIISSION There are two corrections that should be made to the staff memo on the Centex PUD. The first is to note that the date should be July 6, 1990, not June 6, 1990. This was a typo. More importantly, there is a correction that needs to be made in the Recommendation paragraph. At the bottom of the first paragraph in the recommendation it states that "The Planning Commission also attempted to pass a motion to deny the project. This motion also failed on 3-3 (Dwyer, Morson, and Tilsen opposed) vote." This is incorrect. Commissioner Duggan's motion to deny the project failed for a lack of a second. There was no vote taken on this motion. e The draft minutes that you received accurately reflect the motions that were made that evening and the voting of the Planning Commission. Staff apologizes for the inaccuracy in our staff inemo. CITY OF MENDOTA HEIGHTS MEMO July 10, 1990 TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Tom Lawell, City Administ SIIBJECT: Reception for Howard Dahlgren and Liz Witt BACRGROIIND At the Council's June 19th regular meeting, we discussed tentative plans to have a recognition reception for retired Planning Consultant Howard Dahlgren and former City Councilmember Liz Witt. At that time, we discussed several tentative meeting dates and had settled on July 17th as a preferred date for the event. Unfortunately, we experienced a great deal of trouble in arriving at a mutually agreeable date between the two guests and the Marriott Courtyard Hotel. In the end, e were successful in arriving at an acceptable date of Wednesday, August 1, 1990 for the reception. We tentatively have planned on the reception starting at 7:30 P.M., and lasting approximately two hours. It has been suggested that the City provide hot and cold hors d'oeuvres for the event, along with non-alcoholic beverages. Common sense, if not State Law, dictates that alcoholic beverages should not be purchased with public funds, and therefore will be available to those in attendance at their own expense. We anticipate planning a brief recognition ceremony which will culminate in the presentation of appropriate plaques to both Howard and Liz for their years of service. ACTION REOUIRED Should the Council concur with the above, it is recommended that the Council publicly acknowledge the reception date of August 1, 1990 for the purpose of recognizing the many years of public service devoted by Howard and Liz. In addition, should Council have any recommendations or suggestions about the program or arrangements for the reception, please let us know. MTL:kkb
