The generic term for all crimes in which a person intentionally
and fraudulently takes personal property of another without
permission or consent and with the intent to convert it to the
taker's use (including potential sale).
FRAUD:
A false representation of a matter of fact—whether by
words or by conduct, by false or misleading allegations, or
by concealment of what should have been disclosed—that
deceives and is intended to deceive another so that the
individual will act upon it to her or his legal injury.
BURGLARY:
The crime of breaking and entering into a structure for the
purpose of committing a crime. No great force is needed
(pushing open a door or slipping through an open window is
sufficient) if the entry is unauthorized. Contrary to common
belief, a burglary is not necessarily for theft. It can apply to
any crime, such as assault or sexual harassment, whether the
intended criminal act is committed or not.
ROBBERY:
The taking of money or goods in the possession of another,
