CREDIT CARD FRAUD
PHISHING ‐ obtaining financial or other confidenƟal informaƟon from internet users,
typically by sending an email that looks as it is from a legiƟmate organizaƟon, usually
a financial insƟtute, but contains a link to a fake website that replicates a real one.
SKIMMING ‐ A form of fraud when numbers on a credit card are recorded
and then transferred to a duplicate card. This is done without the knowledge of the
original credit card holder. This same form is also done by placing an aƩachment on an
ATM machine to record your card informaƟon. So look at the ATM's you use if something
looks odd. Do not use it and report it the bank or police.
If you are a VICTIM of Fraud:
1. Contact your financial insƟtute fraud department, cancel your card and freeze your
account to stop from new charges occurring. Change passwords, logins, and PIN's for your
account.
2. Contact one credit bureau to place a fraud alert and request a credit report.
