RNC
The Republican National Convention is being held next week in St. Paul.
Our Police Department has a well thought out plan and is ready for any
problems associated with the convention. They are well coordinated with
all other Dakota County agencies and will be staffed with extra personnel
all the way to September 5th.

Welcome Sue
Sue Donovan started work this Monday as the new Police Secretary. Sue was work-
ing as an IT person for the Judicial Branch of the State Court Administration (just
east of the Capitol. Sue lives in Roseville, is married with four children and 2 grand-
sons with one on the way.
Welcome John
On Monday last week, John Mazzitello started work as Sue McDermott’s replace-
ment as Public Works Director. John is married to Lari Anne and they have a three
year old daughter named Kyria Lea. John lives in St. Paul, but just this week sold
that home and will be moving to 3rd Avenue in Mendota Heights at the end of Sep-
tember. John is also a Major in the Minnesota Air National Guard. John was a very
much awaited replacement and has been busy dealing with a backlog of citizen com-
plaints, Mendota Mall issues, a Homewood Suites planning application, other ongo-
ing projects and generally getting adjusted to his new position.
Grampa Guy
Congratulations goes out to Guy Kullander for the birth of his second grandchild.
Victor Joseph Dressen was born to Jessica Ann Kullander and her husband Jason
(this was their first child) on Thursday, August 28th at 8:00 a.m. weighing 7 pounds
11 ounces. Guy said he is described as “Healthy, Happy and Loud”.
City Offices Closed for Labor Day
City Offices will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day. Offices will
open again on Tuesday, September 2, 2008.
